Policies & FAQs.

Everything you need to know about your Scrappy membership, terms, billing, training etiquette. If anything's unclear, call (08) 9457 0050 or ask your home-gym coach.

Member Terms of Service

1. Membership

All Scrappy MMA memberships are week-to-week or month-to-month. There is no lock-in contract. You can pause or cancel at any time by notifying your home gym in writing (email counts).

2. Free first class

Every new member is entitled to one free first class at any Scrappy location. The free class covers coaching, mat access and loan of any specific gear required for the class.

3. Training conduct

Members agree to follow instructor directions, treat training partners with respect, and maintain hygiene standards (clean gi / rashguard / shorts, trimmed nails, shower before class). Zero tolerance for aggression outside controlled sparring, or any form of harassment.

4. Safety & injury

Martial arts training involves physical contact and inherent risk. Members must disclose any relevant medical conditions before training, and are expected to train within their capacity. Scrappy MMA carries public liability insurance but members train at their own risk. By attending classes you acknowledge this.

5. Multi-location access

Platinum-tier members enjoy drop-in access at all Scrappy locations. Other tiers are capped to their home gym. Check your specific tier for details.

6. Grievance & disciplinary

Concerns about conduct, staff or members, should be raised with the head coach or gym owner. Serious breaches may result in membership suspension or termination without refund.

How do I grade / get promoted?

BJJ grading at Canning Vale (Moraes lineage) happens at instructor discretion across the year. Stripes and belts are earned through consistent training, technical development and (for higher belts) competition experience. Kids grades follow a set syllabus, ask your coach for the current grading timeline.

What gear do I need?

First class: loan gear provided. Ongoing: for BJJ you'll need a gi and rash-guard (plus mouthguard for spar); for striking classes you'll want wraps, gloves and shin-guards. We can point you to trusted suppliers.

Can I bring a guest?

Yes, guests are welcome for one complimentary class. They just need to register at the front desk before the session.

What if I'm injured / need to pause?

Let your coach know ASAP. We'll pause your membership for up to 4 weeks without charge. Longer pauses considered case-by-case.

Billing & Account Policies

Payment

Memberships are billed weekly by direct debit unless you've opted for fortnightly or monthly. Fees come out on the same day each cycle.

Failed payments

If a payment fails, we'll retry within 48 hours and notify you by email. Repeated failures (3+ consecutive) may result in suspension of mat access until the account is brought current.

Price changes

We reserve the right to adjust pricing with 30 days written notice. Founding members hold their locked-in rate as long as their membership stays active and current.

Cancellation

Cancel any time with 2 weeks written notice (email your home gym). No cancellation fees. Any outstanding fees must be settled before the final session.

Refunds

Free first class sessions are non-refundable (they're free!). Paid class packs or gear purchases can be refunded within 14 days if unused/unopened. Membership fees are non-refundable once the week has begun.

When is my first debit?

Your first debit runs the week after your free class (once you opt to join). You'll get a confirmation email with the exact date and amount.

Can I switch tiers?

Yes, drop or upgrade at any time. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
